Lemon grass is a tropical and subtropical plant native to South Asia, Southeast Asia, and Australia. The so-called East Indian lemon grass is a type of grass native to India (Cymbopoon Flexuosus). Lemon grass, also known as Cymbopogon, is one of approximately 55 grass species belonging to the Poaceae family. Cymbopogon citratus and Cymbopogon flexuosus are the two most common varieties among these many. The oil has a lemony fragrance and can be bright or pale yellow in colour.
